West Palm Eats!

Hello!! We are back from a great, much-needed vacation. I know our baby is only 4 months old, but it feels nice to have a weekend alone to just be Beth and Jeff again. Baby girl took her third flight in six weeks, and was a perfect angel strapped in her baby bjorn. She even slept through security:

Once we dropped her off in Tampa, we headed to West Palm. Boy, did we eat some good food last weekend. I know that when you are thinking of foodie cities in the US, West Palm Beach might not come to mind. Let me tell you - it's fantastic. We have the same restaurants that we go to each time we head down there for Spring Training. In fact, Cabana Nuevo is one of our very favorite restaurants EVER. Because this is a food blog, I wanted to talk about all the amazing places that we love in West Palm.

The service is amazing here, and they do everything right with the food. The mojitos are delicious, too! For starters, we ordered some ceviche. SO, so good. It came with a sauce that is made from a unique cuban pepper (cannot remember the name for the life of me!), and it was just the right zest and spice to take this over the top.

Jeff dreams about this steak that he ordered. It's called Churrasco - Latin american style skirt steak marinated in garlic and fresh herbs accompanied by chimichurri and cebollitas (pickled onions). Ever since we were here last year and Jeff got this, he has declared it his favorite meal. And it's skirt steak! Not the best cut of meat, but it just goes to show you that the way you prepare something makes all the difference in the world.

I, on the other hand, got the Chilean Sea Bass. It was served with a beurre blanc sauce, greens, and cheddar-mashed yucca. Hello. It was the largest piece of sea bass I've ever seen!

Super delicious, as usual. You must try Cabana Nuevo! It's the best Latin/Cuban food that you will ever eat.

The next day was spent at the Cardinals Spring Training Game, where it was soft pretzels, hot dogs, and beer. And THE most perfect weather ever.

We continued the fun at a local tiki/rum bar. Such a great find!

This was located in Palm Beach Gardens, just a few miles north of the city.

We sat in the sun with our cocktails, and decided on some conch fritters for an app, to hold us over. Homemade, fresh conch fritters....yum.

There's not much that beats a waterside restaurant on a beautiful day. Besides this pool which we lounged at all weekend :)

The next day, we feasted at Leftovers. It is a branch of a place called Food Shack in West Palm, and it has awesome local seafood, and great local beers from across the country.

They also write up a new menu by hand each day that is full of specials.

We started off with a local brew called "Monk in the Trunk". It's an Organic Amber Ale from Jupiter, FL.

For our meals, we split the Sweet Potato Crusted Grouper, and the Mediterranean Mussels. Holy Moly....these were ridiculous!

I would highly recommend this as a lunch or dinner spot. Check out their menu here!

Our last outstanding meal was at Spoto's Oyster Bar.  We always go here for the best fresh oysters and seafood. Again, it did not disappoint! We got a fresh tuna/avocado stack to start:

Then I ordered the scallops. They are panko-crusted and cooked to perfection with a plum sauce. Mmm...

Jeff gets the same thing every year at Spoto's as well....the Lobster Fetuccini with Tomato-Basil Cream Sauce.

Here's a better look at the 1 1/4 pounds of lobster meat (!!!!).

We stuffed ourselves silly on this trip, but it was all fantastic. You can get the best seafood dishes here in West Palm Beach, and the restaurants really know their stuff. After a long weekend, we were ready to get back to our little lady, who was hanging with Granny Sure in Tampa :)

Looks like she really missed us. Not.
