Putting the LABOR in Labor Day....

Hello my friends. Sadly, there has not been too much cooking going around our house. Could it be because when I got home on Friday night, our kitchen looked like this? Perhaps.

WOW. That's about the ugliest floor I've ever seen. I promise, it wasn't our existing floor in the kitchen, but it was the original glued-down floor from 1973 (under 2 more recent laminate layers). Do you realize how hard it is to rip up flooring that old? Inch by inch, baby. Luckily after 3 days of HARD work, we had our finished product:

Oooo la la...

It's amazing what a difference it makes in this kitchen! We didn't finish until late Sunday, and celebrated with this ice cream cake (also for my bday a couple of weeks ago)...

It made everything better (and yes, my nickname is Beef. Don't ask). Well it, and a full day of rest and watching "Going into Labor" Day on Lifetime Movie Network all day Monday. Let me just say that tiling 250 square feet while 29 weeks preggo may not be the best idea for already tired legs and feet :)

All in all, we had a super productive weekend and I feel so much better about the house. Thanks so much to Mom and Tanya for their incredibly hard work all weekend! We owe you big time!

I'm cooking some comforting soup tonight to match this chilly weather we're having today. I'll be back tomorrow with the details....
