Super Bowl Week: Recipe #4 - Pizzettes

Well my friends, it's day four of my weekly Super Bowl appetizers, and it's another good one! I hope that these recipes I've featured are different than what you've made in the past. I could do a bunch of dips that we make all the time, but I thought that I'd try to mix it up- everyone knows how to make a dip!

I once walked into a party for the big game with my favorite sausage, cream cheese, and rotel dip (we all know that one, right?) and another lady had brought the same thing! Even worse, she sat there the whole time comparing our two dips. Seriously? That's when I started to think out of the box with apps.

This appetizer is so easy to make, and can be swtiched up any way you like. I first saw it when my friend, Tanya, made these for a party at my house. I've changed the toppings a bit, but they are always delicious.

I have to admit, I made these last night from mostly prepared foods. That's usually not my style, but I know that most people do not have time to make things from scratch...especially if you are hosting a party. I used a bunch of shortcuts (prepared meat sauce, pre-shredded cheeses, packaged pizza crust), so hopefully this will help with time management :)

I start by carmelizing an onion. You know how to do this, right? It's the hardest part of this recipe...no joke.

Next, unroll you packaged thin crust pizza crust. Pilsbury is the best.

Using your biscuit cutter (or top of a glass) make little round shapes in the dough.

Lay these on a baking sheet, and top with your favorite pizza toppings. I topped some with carmelized onions and goat cheese, some with onions and blue cheese, and then I got a little crazy. Bacon cheeseburger pizza, anyone? Hell yeah! I top two with meat sauce, shredded cheddar, and smoky bacon. Mmmmmmm.

I popped these into a 400 degree oven and baked them until just golden, about 12 mintues.

I wish I could tell you that I didn't finish this plate, but that would be a lie. I also wish I could tell you that I didn't go back again for the other two (yes people, that makes 8 pizzettes!), but I'm an honest person. And these are that good. Check out those onions....

And the bacon cheeseburger pizzette - could've been my favorite!

These would be a great dinner for little kids, too. They could make them with you and top them as they please....so fun! Enjoy :)

PIZZETTES

1 package of Pilsbury prepared thin pizza crust

Toppings of your choice. I used these for 8 pizettes:

2 tbs meat sauce

3 tbs shredded cheddar

1 slice of bacon, crumbled

1 onion, sliced and carmelized in butter

2 tbs goat cheese

2 tbs bue cheese

Using a biscuit cutter, knife, or glass, cut your pizza dough into individual servings. Top with desired toppings and bake at 400 for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
